Most people today work their butts off in jobs they don’t like (or at least – aren’t excited about) – just so they can pay the bills.
This book will show you how you can turn whatever it is that you love: whether it’s sports, knitting or kitty-brushing – into a profitable business that will set you free.

If you’ve never heard of Gary Vee before (well, to be fair it’s Vaynerchuk, but that’s to long, sis) – I’m glad to be the one to introduce him to you.
Gary Vee is one of the most famous entrepreneurs today – made a name for himself after back in 1998 – he got his family’s liqueur store biz to grow from from 4 million dollars – to over 50 million dollars, in less than 8 years.
How did he do that?
He was smart enough to identify digital marketing trends (mainly email marketing and PPC), and later on – became of the first “internet celebrities”, after starting a daily wine show on Youtube – “Wine Library TV”.
The show has became a sensation, and Gary used that momentum to open his digital media company – Vayner Media.
What is this book about, anyway?
This book lays out Gary’s personal view of the world today, and what it takes to “win” and become successful in this internet age.
This book is all about how to turn something that you love, or passionate about – into your full-time income.
Wanna know how to make it happen? Keep reading.
The #1 A-Ha moment I’ve had from this book / The main message
Today – you no longer have to compromise about what you do and how you make money.
So – if your current job or business doesn’t excite the heck out of you, you can totally replace it by starting your own personal brand and becoming your own boss.
You can make the same money (or a lot, A LOT more) – without having to drag yourself into the office every single day.
What is a “personal brand”?
It’s a way to make a name for yourself online, as an expert in a topic that you love and are excited about.
How? by creating amazing content that other people would love to read/listen to/watch, and eventually growing a loyal audience and a community of fans.
The 3 main lessons I’ve learned from the book
This book is packed with a ton of great life-lessons and business tips.
here’ are 3 of my favorites:
Lesson #1:
How to stand out from the competition, and create a loyal fan base
If you want people to trust you – you definitely gotta be 10000% professional, and know anything there’s to know about your topic.
BUT…
Don’t let the stuff you learn take away your personality and your view of the world.
Use your own thoughts, words and ways to communicate – otherwise you will be just another face in the crowd.
For example:
In his wine show – Gary skipped the “wine talk”, and used his own words, like “this wine tastes like a snicker bar”.
They might have not been as sophisticated as other wine expert’s vies, but they were real – and that got the audience to believe him, and to eventually – make his a star.
Lesson #2:
Patience. When it comes to money… and everything else.
Some people think about Gary, or other people who’ve “made it” – as an overnight success. But the truth is – they don’t see the years of hard, endless work those people have put out until they finally got their lucky break, and became famous.
For example:
Gary became a house hold name in recent years.. but he actually started his Wine Library TV channel back in 2006, and his business channel in 2007. That’s over 10 years of work right there, but most people think they can skip it.
Same goes for money –
When it goes for your personal brand – don’t rush to make money out of it.
When you start your personal brand, and start getting offers – don’t rush anything. Take your time, and make smart decisions that are good for you in the long term, vs ones that are only a short term kinda thing.
Lesson #3:
The world is changing. don’t fight it… embrace it.
The world is fast, and changes all the time. Don’t get stuck doing what you’re doing, and keep your eyes open for changes – new platforms, and new opportunities.
Know that the main principle is providing great content that gives value to your audience. The tools to do that might will change in time, so keep your eyes open.
What to do now? Where should you start implementing the book in your life?
At the end of the book – Gary gives out a checklist of the stuff you gotta do in order to start building your personal brand right now.
Here’s the short, doable version of it:
- Identify your passion – what is it that lights you up, and that you can talk about forever?
- Make sure you got stuff to talk about – Prepare 50 topics you can create content about
- Create a blog where you can share your content – Hire a website experts to help you create your own WordPress blog (Gary says it’s the only thing he would def spend money on. I like him already.)
- Make sure your blog is set up correctly – with ways to subscribe for your content, to share your content, and to work with you or give you money (this last one might not be relavent for you at first).
- Open a Facebook fan page
- Start creating content
- Start working on your community – by replying to comments both on your content, and on other peoples content in your niche.
- Repeat 3-4 again. and again. and again.
- Make money – Once your brand gets enough attention and you have a strong community – start thinking about ways to make money from it.
